Attorney Services

MedLegal Opinions provides medical opinions to attorneys for a variety of issues:
● Medical Malpractice (both plaintiff and defense),
● Personal Injury Cases,

MedLegal Opinions utilizes board-certified medical specialists and certified legal nurse consultants with strong clinical and academic backgrounds who are committed to providing honest, unbiased opinions in the evaluation of potential cases of medical malpractice and/or negligence.

Reviews by Physician Experts:

Screening / Expedited Medical Expert Review: A medical expert will provide a preliminary review based upon a summary of the medical case within 1 week in order to screen cases for potential merit.

Detailed Expert Review by Physicians: The medical expert will provide detailed initial review of the entire medical record in order to determine whether cause exists. The expert will then discuss his or her findings and provide a written report, if necessary, discussing the findings, identifying the applicable standards of care and any breeches thereof, and identifying potential defendants.

Additional Physician Expert Services: If it is determined that cause exists and the decision is made to proceed with a case and the medical expert is retained, fees for additional expert services beyond the initial

Detailed Expert Review by Physicians are assessed as follows:
● Additional expert reviews and discussions of medical records, depositions, expert reports, etc
● Preparation of written reports
● Assistance with identification of additional experts, preparation for trial, identification of relevant medical literature
● Deposition testimony
● Trial testimony

Reviews by Certifed Legal Nurse Consultants:

Screening / Expedited Nurse Review: If a summary that can adequately explain the facts of the case is not available, a legal nurse consultant will review and abstract the medical records in question and create a detailed chronology of events, summarizing the pertinent facts of the case. This document can then serve as the preliminary basis for a more Detailed Expert Witness Review.

Detailed Expert Reviews by Certified Legal Nurse Consultants: In addition to providing screening services for merit, CLNCs provide valuable additional services, including:
● Preparation of summary and detailed chronology of events throughout case
● Define applicable Standards of Care and deviations, such as improper documentation, failure to follow adhere to appropriate “Practice Guidelines” or “Best Practices”, failure to follow recommendations of consultants, failure to adhere to hospital protocols, policies and procedures, etc
● Assess damages/injuries for extent, prognosis, causation, and damages
● Identify potential defendants
● Conduct literature searches, provide analyses and summaries of relevant articles
● Identify & review relevant hospital policies & procedures
● Serve as liaison to physician experts
● Assist in trial preparation: design of questions, exhibits, etc.
● Testimony at deposition
● Testimony at trial
