Physician Information
MedLegal Opinions is a consulting firm specializing in providing competent and honest medical opinions to the legal profession.
MedLegal Opinions is offering physicians the opportunity to become part of the solution to the current rash of malpractice and negligence lawsuits affecting the medical profession and causing skyrocketing annual malpractice premiums and costs across the healthcare industry. MedLegal Opinions supplies lawyers (both plaintiff and defense) with board-certified clinicians who have strong clinical backgrounds and are interested in reviewing potential medical malpractice and/or negligence cases, personal injury cases, and, occasionally, Workman’s Compensation cases, and are committed to providing honest, unbiased opinions.
In our experience of over 20 years of academic and clinical medicine and medical-legal matters, we have realized that the best way to prevent frivolous lawsuits is to provide attorneys with the most competent medical experts, who were most qualified to review a potential case and render an educated and honest opinion as to its merit. While those cases that are clearly malpractice or negligence should be identified and resolved early, those that are not, which represent the vast majority, should also be identified and disposed of to avoid unnecessary expenses and heartache. Our experience shows that when a “negative” review is rendered by a competent and respected expert, most reputable plaintiffs’ attorneys simply drop the matter because the costs associated with bringing a malpractice case forward are huge and the risks prohibitive. This benefits all parities by rewarding patients that have truly been victimized and decreasing the number of frivolous lawsuits, which cost tens of thousands of dollars to pursue, resulting in ever-increasing malpractice and health insurance premiums and untold emotional travail for unjustly accused physicians.
Working with MedLegal Opinions is hassle-free. We offer competitive hourly rates, affording you the opportunity to supplement your clinical income. We will obtain the cases and handle all initial contact with attorneys or insurance carriers, provide you with the case material for review, and handle your initial review, assessment and reimbursement. After that, we will invoice you monthly and handle the billing to and payments from the attorney.
Participating experts will generally be asked to perform 2 types of reviews:
Expedited / Preliminary Review: Provide a brief review of a case summary, usually within one (1) week, to determine whether the matter has potential merit.
Detailed Review and Service as Expert Witness: Provide detailed initial review of an entire case with a complete set of medical records to determine whether malpractice or negligence has occurred. MedLegal Opinions will put you directly in contact with the attorney, who will provide you all of the necessary material. Reimbursement to you for detailed reviews, discussions, written reports, affidavits of merit and depositions will be processed through us, saving yu any hassles. In return, MedLegal Opinions asks our experts to act professionally and provide timely and honest analyses.
